My Background
I may be an avid reader but it is also through my extensive academic background that I am able to encourage your child in their pursuit of learning to read. As an Elementary Online Reading Tutor, I have training as a Reading Interventionist and in the Reading Simplified method. In addition to all of the above, I have a Bachelor's Degrees in both Anthropology and Social Work. I am also a Transformational Life Coach. Fun fact: some of my hobbies include reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, needlepoint, Swedish weaving, and playing in a steel pan orchestra.
My Expertise
Working with children within Grade 1 – 6, I specialize in reading (and everything that goes with it). In specific, this may include: phonics, vocabulary, grammar, and learning to read English fluently. To add some fun to my classes, I include stories, biographies, social studies, and history. My hope in adding these topics is to further engage children to begin to expand their reading and interests.
Personalized Lessons
Classes are taught through Zoom which has proven to be a very successful mode of teaching. All materials are digitized and can be easily uploaded. A bonus is that travel time is eliminated, we are able to use the full class time efficiently. The beauty of online classes is that I can teach your child from anywhere in the world, via Zoom.
